The Philippines a Century Hence
A writing from Rizal assuming what the future of the Philippines is in the span of a hundred years. He expresses that the French Revolution may tell us something about the future of the Philippines and Spain. It also touches on several topics about the past of the Philippines, and how colonization under Spanish rule deteriorated the Philippines culturally and economically.

Sobre la Indolencia de los Filipinos
In this essay, Rizal argues against the claims of the Spaniards that Filipinos were lazy. He exclaimed that the Filipino people were hardworking until Spanish Colonization. Some of the arguments are: impractical system of education, crooked system of religion, and gambling.

To the Young Women of Malolos
This was a letter written by Jose Rizal as a response to the request of Marcelo H. del Pilar. He addresses the 20 women form Malolos, Bulacan whom petitioned to start a night school to learn Spanish. Jose Rizal compliments them for their bravery and courage while also giving advice to the women.

Noli Me Tangere
Rizal's first published Novel. It showcases the corruption and injustice done by the Spanish colonizers to the Filipino people. It focuses on the importance of education and enlightenment to create social changes.

El Filibusterismo
El Filibusterismo (The Reign of Greed), the sequel to Jose Rizal’s first novel (Noli Me Tangere). This book was published in 1891 and is a graver and less hopeful tone compared to Noli Me Tangere. It was dedicated to the memory of priests Don Mariano Gomez, Don José Burgos, and Don Jacinto Zamora which Rizal wrote as victims of evil and martyrs of the Philippines (Derbyshire, 1912). The original language of the book is Spanish, and it is a Novel (fictional).
